Lamps and rewards

Quests, diaries and the Varrock Cleaner hand out experience lamps and other rewards where you pick a skill. You choose the skill when you add the task in Setup. If you leave it on Default, or your choice can’t take the reward when it’s handed out, the script picks one for you using the rules below.

When a lamp is rubbed, your chosen skill is used if it can take the reward:

  • your level in it meets the lamp’s requirement (if it has one);
  • on a free account, it isn’t a members skill;
  • Construction needs a house, Herblore needs Druidic Ritual, and Runecraft needs Rune Mysteries;
  • Sailing is never picked.

If it can’t, the quest’s own default is used (see the table below). If that can’t take it either, the script picks a random skill that can, never Attack, Defence or Prayer. If no skill qualifies, it uses Hitpoints.

These quests let you choose. Quests with several rewards show one choice per reward, in the order the quest hands them out. To change a choice later, use the edit button on the quest in your task list.

Quest Rewards Choices Default

RFD - Defeating The Culinaromancer 1 lamp of 20,000 xp Any skill at level 50 or higher Random

Things to know:

  • King’s Ransom won’t start until its lamp can be used: with a skill chosen, that skill must be level 50; on Default, any skill at 50 will do. Until then it’s blocked with “Requires level 50 in a skill for the antique lamp.”
  • RFD - Defeating The Culinaromancer: if your chosen skill is below 50 when the lamp is rubbed, it goes on another skill that’s 50 or higher. With no skill at 50 yet, the lamp is kept. See Recipe for Disaster.
Quest Choice Options Default
Monkey Madness I Daero’s training Strength & Hitpoints, Attack & Defence, Don’t claim Strength & Hitpoints
Horror from the Deep God book Zamorak, Saradomin, Guthix Zamorak

Daero’s training gives 35,000 xp in each skill of the chosen pair and 20,000 in each of the other two. Every choice gives Defence experience, so accounts at 10 Defence or below never claim it, whatever you pick.

Ardougne Diary - Easy and Varrock Diary - Easy reward an antique lamp. Both have two choices in Setup: Lamp skill and Fallback lamp skill.

  • An easy diary lamp only works on a skill at level 30 or higher, and the bank won’t take it. So the script rubs it as soon as the reward is claimed, whatever task is running (after any fight or dialogue in progress).
  • The skill is, in order: your Lamp skill if it’s 30 or higher; else your Fallback lamp skill if it’s 30 or higher; else Herblore, Slayer or Prayer, whichever is first to be 30 or higher; else your lowest skill that’s 30 or higher (never Attack or Defence). Easy diary lamps never go on a random skill.
  • If no skill is 30 yet, the lamp stays in your inventory until one is.
  • A lamp from a diary that isn’t in your plan follows the same rules without your choices. A lamp still carried when the script changes tasks is rubbed before banking.

See Diaries.

The Varrock Cleaner task has a Lamp skill choice for the lamps from the Varrock Museum. Museum lamps need level 10 to 50 in the skill, depending on the lamp. If your skill can’t take a lamp, it goes on a random skill that can (never Attack, Defence or Prayer).

The bank won’t take museum lamps either, so one left over outside a Varrock Cleaner task is rubbed straight away, on a random skill that can take it.

With the Varrock Cleaner’s Skill level goal, you pick the skill to level in the goal itself, and its lamps go there. See Minigames.
