Mining
Ironman AIO has seven Mining methods. Auto progress is the simplest: it mines copper and tin to 15, then iron, and banks the ore for your Smithing. The other methods train at a fixed activity or gather a chosen ore.
To add one, pick Mining in Setup, set a level range (From and To), choose a method and fill in its options. Every method ends when you reach the To level, except Sandstone with the Buckets of sand goal, which ends on a bucket count instead.
| Method | Mining level | Other requirements |
|---|---|---|
| Auto progress | 1 | None |
| Shooting Stars | 10 | None (free-to-play accounts use stars on free worlds) |
| Gem Rocks | 40 | Membership, Shilo Village |
| Collect | 1 (Iron 15) | None |
| Motherlode Mine | 30 | Membership |
| Sandstone | 35 | Membership, water for the desert |
| Calcified rocks | 41 | Membership, Cam Torum (the task can open it, see below) |
A task only runs while your Mining level is inside its level range. If the method needs a higher level than your From level, the task is skipped until you reach it.
What every method does
Section titled “What every method does”- Pickaxe. Each bank trip takes the best pickaxe you own for your level. With Auto-buy pickaxe upgrades on in Preferences (on by default), it buys the next pickaxe it can afford from Nurmof in the Dwarven Mine: steel from 6 Mining, mithril from 21, adamant from 31 and rune from 41. With the setting on, an account with no pickaxe at all takes coins from the bank and buys one there too.
- Outfit. It wears the best mining outfit you own: prospector pieces, Varrock armour for the body, and graceful in any slot that’s left.
- Gem bag. If you own a gem bag (or one of its upgrades), it carries it open so gems go straight in, and empties it at the bank.
- Rock Knocker. If you wield a pickaxe with the Rock Knocker special (dragon, crystal, infernal and similar), it uses the special whenever your special attack is full.
- Banking. When the inventory is full it banks what it mined and keeps its tools and supplies.
Methods
Section titled “Methods”Auto progress
Section titled “Auto progress”Trains Mining on ordinary rocks and banks the ore.
What it mines:
| Mining level | Ore |
|---|---|
| 1-14 | Copper and tin |
| 15+ | Iron, up to your target level |
Below 15, it keeps your copper and tin balanced in the bank so they pair up into bronze bars. Some accounts fill each inventory with one ore (whichever the bank holds fewer of). Others fill half the inventory with copper and half with tin.
Location. The Location dropdown lists every spot for copper, tin and iron (see Mining spots). Choose one, or leave it on Any (per account) to let each account settle on its own spot. If the spot you chose doesn’t have the ore you’re on now (for example Lumbridge East once you reach iron), or you can’t use it yet, the account uses its own pick instead.
Power mine. Tick Power mine to drop the ore when the inventory is full instead of banking it. Gems are kept, and it only banks once gems fill the inventory. While power mining below 15, it mines only copper or only tin (each account has its own choice), since dropped ore never makes bronze anyway.
When it’s done: when you reach the target level.
Any (per account)
Section titled “Any (per account)”Any (per account) runs Auto progress for the whole level range. Some accounts power mine all the way and others bank. The choice is made once per account and stays the same every run.
Collect
Section titled “Collect”Mines one ore you choose and banks it, for when you want the ore itself.
Ore. Pick from Clay, Copper, Tin, Copper and Tin, or Iron (needs 15 Mining). Copper and Tin keeps the two balanced for bronze bars, like Auto progress does below 15.
Location. The dropdown only lists spots that have the ore you picked. Any (per account) lets the account pick.
When it’s done: when you reach the target level. The ore stays in your bank.
Mining spots
Section titled “Mining spots”| Spot | Ores | Members | Combat level needed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lumbridge East | Copper, tin | No | None |
| Varrock East | Copper, tin, iron | No | 13 for tin, 15 for iron |
| Dwarven Mine | Clay, copper, tin, iron | No | None |
| Falador West | Iron | Yes | None |
| Ardougne Monastery | Iron | Yes | None |
| Mount Karuulm | Iron | Yes | None |
| Ardougne East | Iron | Yes | 43 |
- Ardougne Monastery mines any iron rock in the mine. If you own an Ardougne cloak, it wears it so it can teleport there.
- Ardougne East is the mine by the Legends’ Guild. It needs 43 combat because the grizzly bears there leave you alone from that level.
- Every spot is listed, members spots included, even on a free-to-play account. A spot you pick but can’t use yet is passed over for the account’s own pick until it unlocks.
- If the walker can’t find a route to a spot after three tries, the task mines at another spot instead.
Shooting Stars
Section titled “Shooting Stars”Mines crashed shooting stars for Mining XP and stardust.
What you need: 10 Mining. On a free-to-play account it only goes for stars on free worlds.
Step by step:
- Banking. It takes up to 4 food, your stardust and coins, and teleport runes (law, air, water, earth and fire) if you own law runes.
- Finding a star. It checks an online star tracker for active stars. It only considers stars that are big enough to mine at your level (a star’s tier times 10 must be no higher than your Mining level), that have at least about 3 minutes left, that are on worlds it’s allowed to hop to, and that landed at a site it knows and you can reach.
- Picking one. If there’s a usable star at the landing site you’re already at, it stays there. Otherwise it picks the biggest star, then the closest, then the one that landed most recently.
- Getting there. It hops to the star’s world and walks to it.
- Mining. It mines the star until it’s gone, then looks for the next one.
No star? If there’s no usable star, or the star isn’t where the tracker said, it mines with Auto progress for 5 minutes and then checks again.
When it’s done: when you reach the target level.
Gem Rocks
Section titled “Gem Rocks”Mines the gem rocks at Shilo Village and banks the gems.
What you need: membership, 40 Mining and Shilo Village completed. Without them the task is blocked.
Location:
| Choice | Where it mines |
|---|---|
| Shilo Village (Upper) | The open-air mine. Gems are banked at the Shilo Village bank. |
| Shilo Village (Lower) | The underground mine, if your account has it unlocked. Gems go into the deposit box down there, so it doesn’t have to leave. |
| Any (per account) | The underground mine when it’s unlocked, otherwise the open-air mine. |
It wears a charged amulet of glory if you own one, and empties your gem bag at each deposit. Clue scrolls go into the underground deposit box with the gems.
When it’s done: when you reach the target level.
Motherlode Mine
Section titled “Motherlode Mine”Mines pay-dirt at the Motherlode Mine under Falador and buys Prospector Percy’s rewards with the nuggets.
What you need: membership and 30 Mining. The upper level needs 57.
Step by step:
- Mining. It mines ore veins, skipping veins another player is standing at. If a rockfall blocks the way, it mines through it.
- Hopper. With a full inventory, it puts the pay-dirt in the hopper.
- Struts. If both struts are broken, it takes a hammer from the crate, fixes them, and drops the hammer afterwards.
- Emptying the sack. When the sack can’t take another load (108 pay-dirt, or 189 with the bigger sack), it empties the sack completely. It collects the ore, nuggets and gems, fills your coal bag with coal if you carry one, and banks the rest at the bank chest inside the mine. Pay-dirt that no longer fits in the sack is dropped.
- Rewards. When your nuggets cover a reward you ticked, it fetches them from the bank and buys it from Prospector Percy.
Options:
- Use the upper level. From 57 Mining, it buys upper level access from Percy (100 nuggets) before any other reward, then mines upstairs. Pay-dirt mined upstairs goes down the ladder to the lower hopper unless you’ve bought the upper level hopper.
- Percy’s rewards. Tick the rewards you want. Each is bought as soon as you have the nuggets, in this order:
| Reward | Nuggets |
|---|---|
| Prospector helmet | 40 |
| Prospector jacket | 60 |
| Prospector legs | 50 |
| Prospector boots | 30 |
| Coal bag | 100 |
| Gem bag | 100 |
| Bigger sack | 200 |
| Upper level hopper | 50 |
The upper level hopper is only sold once you own upper level access. Prospector pieces you buy are worn by every Mining method. A gem bag is carried by every method, and a coal bag here at the Motherlode Mine.
When it’s done: when you reach the target level.
Sandstone
Section titled “Sandstone”Mines sandstone at the Desert Quarry and turns it into buckets of sand through Drew.
What you need: membership, 35 Mining and water for the desert heat (see below).
Step by step:
- Mining. It mines the sandstone rocks at the quarry.
- Grinding. With a full inventory, it puts the sandstone in Drew’s grinder. Drew keeps the sand for you: 1, 2, 4 or 8 buckets’ worth for the 1, 2, 5 and 10 kg pieces.
- Empty buckets. It gives Drew any empty buckets you carry. Bucket packs are opened first.
- Claiming sand. It checks how much sand and how many buckets Drew holds for you, then claims buckets of sand at 50 coins each. The claimed sand comes out noted.
Run until:
| Goal | What happens |
|---|---|
| Level | Trains to your target level. It claims as many buckets of sand as your coins and empty buckets allow. |
| Buckets of sand | Runs until you own the number of buckets of sand you enter, with no level range. If you don’t have enough empty buckets, it buys empty bucket packs. |
Water. The desert heat drinks your water, so the script always brings some:
- Circlet of water. If you’ve done Beneath Cursed Sands and own the circlet, it wears it. When it’s under 100 charges, it charges it at the bank with water runes (5 runes a charge). It still carries one waterskin in case the circlet runs dry.
- Waterskins. Otherwise it carries up to 6 filled waterskins. If you have none, it buys 6.
- Refill waterskins with Humidify. Tick this to refill empty waterskins on the spot instead. It needs 68 Magic, Dream Mentor and the Lunar spellbook. It then takes 3 waterskins plus astral, water and fire runes for up to 20 casts.
If three bank trips in a row come back without any water, the task stops with a message instead of walking into the desert dry.
It also carries a few coins for the Shantay Pass, plus any Shantay passes you own.
When it’s done: at the target level, or with Buckets of sand, once you own that many buckets of sand.
Calcified rocks
Section titled “Calcified rocks”Mines the calcified rocks in Cam Torum for blessed bone shards, which you can use for Prayer.
What you need: membership, 41 Mining and access to Cam Torum.
Opening Cam Torum. If you can’t get into Cam Torum yet, the task opens it for you. This needs everything Perilous Moons needs to start: Twilight’s Promise, 48 Slayer, 20 Hunter, 20 Fishing, 20 Runecraft and 10 Construction. If anything is missing, the task is blocked and lists what you need.
- It talks to Attala by the entrance and starts Perilous Moons.
- It banks for a fight: your best melee gear and up to 14 food.
- It kills the Sulphur Nagua on the cliff nearby using Protect from Melee. If it runs out of food and drops below 40% health, it goes back to the bank.
- It reports back to Attala. The rest of the quest is left alone.
Step by step:
- Mining. It mines calcified rocks in the Cam Torum mine. Rocks oozing water are mined first. The shards stack, so the inventory fills slowly with calcified deposits and gems.
- Crushing deposits. With a full inventory, it uses the calcified deposits on the city’s anvil with a hammer, which turns them into more shards. If you don’t own a hammer, it buys one.
- Banking. It banks the shards, gems and anything else at the Cam Torum bank.
When it’s done: when you reach the target level. The blessed bone shards are in your bank.
