Hunter

Ironman AIO trains Hunter with bird snares, red crab trapping on The Pandemonium and salamander net traps. The quickest setup is a Hunter task on Auto. It moves from birds to crabs to salamanders as you level, and falls back to another method when one isn’t available yet.

Every Hunter method is members only. Each task has a Level range (From → To). It runs while your Hunter level is inside that range and is done once you reach the To level.

Method Where Needs
Auto Feldip, Piscatoris, The Pandemonium, then salamander sites Depends on the stage, see below
Birds The hunter area for the bird you pick The bird’s Hunter level
Crab Trapping The Pandemonium 21 Hunter, Pandemonium started, 10 Construction to build the traps
Salamanders Slepe, the desert, Ourania, Ralos’ Rise or the Wilderness 29 to 79 Hunter, depending on the salamander

Auto picks the method from your Hunter level:

Hunter level What Auto does
1-8 Snares crimson swifts in the eastern Feldip Hunter area
9-20 Snares copper longtails in the western Piscatoris Hunter area with a butterfly net, and catches ruby harvests between snare checks from 15
21-46 Traps red crabs on The Pandemonium (see Crab Trapping)
47+ Hunts salamanders, picking the salamander by level (see Salamanders)

When a stage can’t run, Auto falls back:

  • No red crabs (Pandemonium not started, under 10 Construction with no traps built, or missing supplies): it keeps snaring copper longtails until 29, then hunts salamanders from swamp lizards up.
  • No salamanders at 47+: it stays on red crabs.
  • Neither crabs nor salamanders: it snares copper longtails.
  • Once it is on salamanders, it stays there as long as they can run.

Before switching method, Auto picks up the snares it has laid, then banks so the next method gets its own supplies.

GUI option: Crab processing (from 21). Chooses how crabs are handled once Auto reaches the crab stage: Pestle & Mortar or Cut & Bank. With Cut & Bank you also get the Cook the crab meat before banking checkbox. Both work the same as in the Crab Trapping method.

Snares one bird of your choice, as long as the task runs.

GUI option: Bird.

Bird Hunter level Spot Butterfly nearby
Crimson swift 1 Feldip Hunter area (east) None
Copper longtail 9 Piscatoris Hunter area (west) Ruby harvest (15)
Cerulean twitch 11 Rellekka Hunter area Snowy knight (35)
Tropical wagtail 19 Feldip Hunter area Black warlock (45)

How it runs:

  1. At the bank it takes coins for any shop purchase, plus as many bird snares as you’re allowed to lay. That’s two below 40 Hunter, three from 40, four from 60 and five from 80. Snares already laid count towards this.
  2. If you don’t own enough bird snares, it buys them from a hunter shop (6 coins each).
  3. It walks to the spot and lays snares on the bird spawn tiles, keeping them close together.
  4. It checks full snares first, the ones closest to collapsing first. It clears failed snares and re-lays collapsed ones from the ground. The snare comes back to your inventory and is laid again.
  5. Bones and raw bird meat are dropped. Feathers are kept.

GUI option: Catch butterflies while snares are out. Only available for birds with butterflies nearby. When on:

  • The butterfly net is bought if you don’t own one (24 coins at a hunter shop), then withdrawn and wielded.
  • Once every snare is out, it steps off the snare tiles and nets the best butterfly your level allows within 20 tiles of the snares. When the snares have all triggered, or a catch is close to collapsing, it tends every snare and then goes back to the butterflies.
  • No butterfly jars are used, so each butterfly is released as soon as it’s caught. You keep only the XP.
  • Below the butterfly’s level it just snares, but still carries the net.

Traps red crabs on The Pandemonium.

Requirements

  • 21 Hunter.
  • The Pandemonium quest started up to the point where you reach the island, or finished.
  • 10 Construction to build the traps. Once traps stand, Construction is no longer checked.
  • Cut & Bank also needs 21 Cooking.

Getting there. It takes Captain Tobias’ boat from Port Sarim, which costs 30 coins. It banks first, so it only sails once it’s packed. On the island it banks at the Bank Crab.

Building the traps (once per account). There are five holes, and it builds a trap on every one in a single trip. You need:

  • A saw and a hammer.
  • A bucket, a plank and two steel nails per hole. When you own extra nails, it takes five spares.

If you don’t own these, it gets them on the mainland before sailing. Leftover building supplies are banked at the Bank Crab once every trap stands.

Bait. Each trap takes one fish offcut. When your carried offcuts drop below the number of traps you can have out, it restocks in this order:

  1. Offcuts you already own.
  2. Raw shrimps, anchovies and sardines from your bank, cut with a knife.
  3. Raw fish bought from Henderson on the island and cut with a knife (one offcut each). It hops worlds when his stock runs out.

It keeps restocking until it carries a per-account bait target of 100-220 offcuts. Full traps are emptied before every shop trip. It banks with up to 5,000 coins for fares and fish.

Trapping. It empties full traps first, nearest first, and re-baits a trap the moment it’s emptied. Then it baits empty traps up to your limit: two traps at 21 Hunter, three from 40, four from 60 and five from 80. While crabs walk in, it processes the crabs it caught.

GUI option: Processing.

  • Pestle & Mortar (default): crushes the crabs into crab paste. Crab paste stacks, so your inventory never fills, and it only banks for bait.
  • Cut & Bank: cuts the crabs into raw red crab meat with a knife. When the meat fills your inventory, it banks the meat at the Bank Crab.

GUI option: Cook the crab meat before banking (Cut & Bank only, on by default). Before banking, it cooks the raw meat at the cooking pot beside the traps (85 Cooking XP each). Burnt meat is dropped and the rest is banked.

The task pauses with a message when you have no fish offcuts and not enough coins to buy bait fish.

Catches salamanders in net traps on young trees, then releases them. You keep only the XP.

GUI option: Salamander.

Choice Hunter level Where Also needs
Auto 29+ Follows your level, see below
Swamp lizards 29 North-west of Slepe Priest in Peril
Orange salamanders 47 The Necropolis if Beneath Cursed Sands is done, otherwise the Uzer Hunter area
Red salamanders 59 Ourania Hunter area
Black salamanders (Wilderness) 67 Wilderness Hunter area (level 19 Wilderness)
Tecu salamanders 79 Ralos’ Rise Children of the Sun

Auto hunts:

  • Swamp lizards from 29.
  • Orange salamanders from 47.
  • Red salamanders from 59.
  • Tecu salamanders from 79 if Children of the Sun is done, otherwise red salamanders.

Auto never goes into the Wilderness. Black salamanders only run when you pick them. When Auto moves to a new salamander, it picks up the net traps still set at the old site first.

Net traps. Young trees take the stackable net trap item. It keeps your trap limit plus two spares. The limit is two traps below 40 Hunter, three from 40, four from 60 and five from 80, plus one more in the Wilderness. When you own too few traps:

  • If you have 29 Hunter and own both, it makes traps by using rope on a small fishing net.
  • Otherwise it buys traps from a hunter shop: Aleck’s in Yanille, the Nardah Hunter Shop, or Imia at the Hunter Guild (Imia needs Children of the Sun and 46 Hunter). Traps cost 38 coins, or 41 at Imia.

Trip supplies. Everything else is deposited, so the free slots go to catches.

  • Orange salamanders: 8-12 filled waterskins for the desert heat (the count changes each trip), the Shantay Pass fare (passes, or coins) and 4-7 pieces of food. It buys Waterskin(4)s when you own no filled waterskins, and banks for more when the carried ones run out.
  • Black salamanders: 4-7 pieces of food and no spare coins.
  • Food is eaten only when your health is low. If the food runs out while you’re below half health, it goes back to the bank for more.

Hunting. It sets traps on free young trees near the site and resets caught or failed traps on the same tree. Catches are released in rounds of 2-5, or straight away when fewer than two inventory slots are free. If every young tree near the spot stays taken by other players for 20 seconds, it tries the site’s next spot, then hops worlds.
