Runecrafting
Ironman AIO has two Runecrafting methods. Arceuus Library trains Runecrafting from level 1 by fetching books for the library’s customers, with no essence, runes or coins. GOTR plays the Guardians of the Rift minigame from 10 Runecrafting once Temple of the Eye is done.
To add one, pick Runecrafting in Setup, set a level range and choose a method. GOTR has extra options, described below. Any (per account) combines the two, see below.
| Method | Runecrafting level | Other requirements |
|---|---|---|
| Arceuus Library | 1 | Membership (the library is in Kourend) |
| GOTR | 10 | Membership, Temple of the Eye, a pickaxe (it can buy one) |
Methods
Section titled “Methods”Arceuus Library
Section titled “Arceuus Library”This is the same library task as the Magic method, with one difference: when it reads a book of arcane knowledge it picks Runecrafting instead of Magic.
In short, it banks down to graceful (or boots of lightness), gets book requests from Villia and Professor Gracklebone, searches the shelves and learns the library’s layout as it goes, hands the books in, and reads the reward books in small batches (each account has its own batch size, 1 to 5). It reads early if the books it holds are enough to reach your target. When the books shift, it hops worlds and learns the new layout. The Magic page has the full step-by-step.
When it’s done: when you reach the target level with no unread books of arcane knowledge left. Books still in the inventory at the goal are read first.
Plays Guardians of the Rift: mining fragments, crafting guardian essence, crafting runes at the active altars and powering the Great Guardian.
Before each session:
- World. It hops to a Guardians of the Rift world (a members world under 1,950 players, preferring low-ping, busy ones).
- Bank. It takes your best pickaxe for your Mining level, and wears the Raiments of the Eye pieces you own. Slots without one get graceful, except the body, which takes your best Varrock armour before a graceful top, and the feet, where boots of lightness stand in for graceful boots. At 99 it wears your Runecraft cape, and it takes the best abyssal lantern your Firemaking allows. It brings your essence pouches: the colossal pouch if you own one and have 25 Runecrafting, otherwise the small, medium, large and giant pouches your level can use. It also brings abyssal pearls and, on the Lunar spellbook, NPC Contact runes for pouch repairs.
- Pickaxe. With Auto-buy pickaxe upgrades on in Preferences, it buys a better pickaxe when one is available and affordable.
- If your pouches still hold pure essence from another task, it empties them and banks the essence first.
During a game:
- Waiting. Before the rift opens it takes uncharged cells and waits by the remains it will mine first: the large mine if you have 56 Agility, otherwise the guardian parts.
- Mining. It mines guardian fragments: about 150 at the start of the game, then refills between altar runs. When the portal to the huge remains opens, it goes through and mines there too.
- Essence. It crafts guardian essence at the workbench, filling its pouches whenever the inventory is full, and deposits its crafted runes in the deposit pool on the way.
- Altars. When a batch is ready, it enters the best active altar for your Altar focus (see below), empties its pouches and crafts runes until all the essence is used.
- The guardian. It powers up the Great Guardian with the guardian stones it gets, places charged cells on the barrier tiles, takes one free weak cell between rounds when a barrier tile can use it, and repairs broken barrier cells with fragments.
- It drops portal talismans it can’t use. It keeps nature, law, death and blood portal talismans for altars your level and quests allow, and uses them to open those guardians when they’re inactive.
Which altars it uses. An altar is used once you have its level and quest:
| Altar | Runecrafting | Type | Quest needed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Air | 1 | Elemental | |
| Mind | 2 | Catalytic | |
| Water | 5 | Elemental | |
| Earth | 9 | Elemental | |
| Fire | 14 | Elemental | |
| Body | 20 | Catalytic | |
| Cosmic | 27 | Catalytic | Lost City |
| Chaos | 35 | Catalytic | |
| Nature | 44 | Catalytic | |
| Law | 54 | Catalytic | Troll Stronghold |
| Death | 65 | Catalytic | Mourning’s End Part II |
| Blood | 77 | Catalytic | Sins of the Father |
Within the preferred type it picks the highest-level active altar. As the rift closes, an active altar wins over opening one with a talisman.
When it’s done: when you reach the target level and you’re out of the minigame. It always finishes the round it’s in before leaving. With Collect all rewards when task is complete on, it also spends every reward search first.
Any (per account)
Section titled “Any (per account)”Any (per account) trains in the Arceuus Library up to a switch level between 27 and 40, chosen per account. After that, about four in five accounts move to GOTR and the rest stay in the library. GOTR is only chosen when Temple of the Eye is already done or is in your plan; otherwise the account stays in the library. The choices are made once per account and stay the same every run (see Account seeds). GOTR stages use the default GOTR options.
GOTR options
Section titled “GOTR options”Rewards
Section titled “Rewards”| Option | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Collect rewards between games | Off | Leaves between rounds to search the Rewards Guardian. |
| Collect at this many available searches | 10 | With the option above: only collects once this many searches are banked up. |
| Minimum Runecraft level to collect | 27 | With the option above: no collecting below this level (27 to 99). |
| Collect all rewards when task is complete | Off | At the goal, spends every search before the task ends. |
When it collects, it checks your balance at the Rewards Guardian and searches until the balance is spent, banking when it runs short of space.
Altar focus
Section titled “Altar focus”- Balanced (default) keeps elemental and catalytic points even: it prefers whichever type you have fewer points in.
- Elemental or Catalytic always prefers that type, and only uses the other when none of the focused altars are open.
Pouch repair
Section titled “Pouch repair”Degraded pouches are repaired as soon as the script can.
- Auto (default) casts NPC Contact to the Dark Mage when you’re on the Lunar spellbook with 67 Magic and 1 astral, 1 cosmic and 2 air runes. Otherwise it pays Apprentice Cordelia with abyssal pearls.
- Pearls only uses Cordelia. The first repair costs 26 pearls (the 25-pearl unlock plus 1), later ones 1.
- NPC Contact only uses the spell.
If it can’t repair right away, it checks the bank once for pearls or runes. If there are none there either, it keeps playing with the pouches set aside. With Pearls or Auto it then searches the Rewards Guardian for pearls between rounds until it has enough.
