Task loop
Ironman AIO works through your plan one task at a time. Over and over, it runs a short list of global checks (death, food, leaving places, breaks and so on), then gives the current task one more step. This page explains how it picks that task and what those checks do.
How the next task is picked
Section titled “How the next task is picked”The plan is your task list from Setup, in the order shown. With Randomize task order per account on, or with a preset, it’s this account’s own order instead (see Building a plan and Presets).
- The script runs the first task in the plan that can run right now.
- A task can’t run while something it needs is missing: a level, a quest, membership, coins, or an item it has no way to get. The script skips it and tries the next one.
- Skipped tasks aren’t forgotten. The plan is checked again all the time, so an earlier task takes over again as soon as it can run, unless the current task is a quest in progress or a minigame (see Staying on one task).
- A few tasks jump the queue while they have something urgent to do. For example, the Kitten Feeder runs its errands (selling a grown cat, fetching food) ahead of the rest of the plan.
Starting inside a quest area
Section titled “Starting inside a quest area”If you start the script while standing in an area that only one quest can lead you out of (a quest cave mid-quest, an instance or a “no return” area), that quest runs first, ahead of the plan order. It stays on that quest so no other task tries to walk out through doors only the quest can open.
When a task is finished
Section titled “When a task is finished”Each task has its own goal:
| Task | Finished when |
|---|---|
| Skill tasks | The skill reaches your target level. |
| Quests and miniquests | The quest is complete. |
| Collecting and item-buying tasks | The amount you asked for is reached, or for one-off tasks such as Collect Ironman Armor, every piece is owned. |
| Diaries | The diary reward has been claimed. |
| Minigames and money makers | Their own goal: for example the whole rogue or angler outfit owned, every Security Stronghold chest opened, or the amount sold. |
A task that can’t run yet never counts as finished. It’s blocked: it waits with its reason, and it isn’t in the side panel’s finished count.
A few skill tasks also end early when they run out of materials: Cooking when there’s no raw food left, and Prayer when there are no bones left. Those count as skipped rather than finished.
When a task finishes:
- The script waits for the Delay before the next task (10 seconds by default, see Preferences). The real delay varies per account, between three quarters and one and a quarter of the number you set.
- It opens any coin pouches and deals with items the bank won’t take (it drops leftover Guardians of the Rift items and Tithe Farm seeds, and rubs a leftover diary or museum lamp), then banks your whole inventory.
- The next task starts with a fresh bank trip of its own.
Two exceptions: going from one Combat task to another keeps your combat setup and skips the deposit, and the Kitten Feeder’s kitten food and ball of wool stay in the pack. Auto retaliate is switched off at the start of the run and again on every task change.
Staying on one task
Section titled “Staying on one task”Some work shouldn’t be interrupted, so the script doesn’t switch away while:
- a quest is in progress (it finishes the quest, or sets it aside if the quest can’t continue for now);
- it’s inside Wintertodt, Tempoross, Fishing Trawler, Guardians of the Rift, Tithe Farm, a thieving house, Rogues’ Den, your player-owned house, or any instance.
Task rotation
Section titled “Task rotation”With Task Rotation set above 0 minutes, the script switches to another task after that many minutes instead of finishing one task first. It only rotates between tasks that can run, and never away from the cases above. When rotation is on, the side panel shows Next task rotation.
Blocked, set aside and stuck
Section titled “Blocked, set aside and stuck”- Blocked: the task can’t run yet. The script moves on and comes back when it can.
- Set aside for coins: a task that can’t afford what it needs is parked until the coins are owned. See Money.
- Waiting for its turn: a few tasks wait on something outside your control (a quest NPC that isn’t there, or a timer). They get another try each time another task finishes, and when nothing else can run.
When nothing in the plan can run:
- Right after a login it waits up to 30 seconds first. Until the welcome screen closes, the game doesn’t report membership, so members tasks can look blocked for a moment.
- If membership has run out, it ends the script. See Membership.
- If a Herb Runs task is only waiting for its herbs to grow, it logs out until the next run is due and then logs back in. The side panel shows Waiting for herb run.
- Otherwise it ends the script, using the first blocked task’s reason as the stop reason. See Troubleshooting.
When every task is finished or skipped, the script ends with “All tasks completed.”
Global checks
Section titled “Global checks”These run before the current task gets its turn. Most do nothing most of the time. When one has work to do, it takes over for that moment and the side panel shows its name.
| Check | What it does |
|---|---|
| Grand Exchange | Closes the Grand Exchange if it’s open. An ironman never uses it. |
| Overlays | Closes windows that cover the game, such as a quest completion scroll. |
| Stuck check | Stops the script if nothing has happened for the Same-tile stop time (3 minutes by default). |
| Death | Gets your items back after a death. See Food and safety. |
| Item selection | Clears an item left selected (“Use … ->”) that nothing is using. |
| Game settings | Applies the Game Settings from Preferences, outside combat. |
| Camera | Zooms the camera out and tilts it up if it’s zoomed in or looking flat. |
| Wilderness rune shop | Finishes a run to Lundail’s shop at the Mage Arena once one has started. See Banking and supplies. |
| Leaving places | Leaves places the current task doesn’t need: Wintertodt, the Ancient Guardian’s ruins (Below Ice Mountain), the Shadow of the Storm instance after the quest, the Dig Site tablet chamber, the Brutus arena, Rogues’ Den, your house, Tithe Farm (it deposits your fruit first), the Wealthy Citizens thieving houses, and finished quest instances. It also hands in The Grand Tree lumber order when the Stronghold is locked down. |
| Escape crystal | Gets an Escape crystal if you asked to always carry one. |
| Food | Restocks food for tasks that use global food. See Food and safety. |
| Membership | Watches for membership running out. |
| Clean-up | Hops to a members world if a members account is on a free world. Picks up a pet that’s following you. Opens leftover coin pouches and releases bloated toads. Gets rid of leftovers the current task doesn’t use and the bank won’t take or that would get in the way: it drops prayer wines, Tithe Farm seeds, Guardians of the Rift items, Arceuus library books and leftover Pirate’s Treasure rum, reads leftover Arcane knowledge books, and rubs a leftover museum lamp. |
| Kitten | Feeds and plays with a kitten that’s following you. See Collecting. |
| Bank | Closes a bank left open. |
| World hop and breaks | Hops worlds and takes breaks when they’re due. See Breaks and anti-ban. |
| Autocast | Cancels an autocast spell you no longer have the runes for. |
| Diary lamps | Rubs an easy diary lamp on its skill. See Lamps and rewards. |
| Pure mode | With Pure mode on, switches your attack style to Aggressive, Rapid or Casting when it’s on one that trains Attack or Defence. A style that trains neither is left as the task set it. |
| Coins | Starts a money maker, or sets a task aside, when a task runs short of coins. See Money. |
The side panel
Section titled “The side panel”The Crazy Ironman Builder tab in the OnlyBot side panel shows the current task and status, its progress and target, how many plan tasks are finished or skipped, the runtime, and any break in progress. Its buttons:
| Button | What it does |
|---|---|
| Edit plan & settings | Opens the plan editor while the script keeps running. Your changes are applied at the next safe moment (not in combat, a minigame, an instance or the Wilderness). Tasks already finished or skipped stay that way. |
| Skip current task | Skips the current task for the rest of this run. It counts as skipped. |
| Force break / End break now | Starts a short break now, or ends the current one. |
| Send debug report | Sends a report to the developer. See Troubleshooting. |
