Firemaking

Ironman AIO has five Firemaking methods. Chop & Burn and Chop & Bonfire chop their own logs, so they need nothing but an axe and a tinderbox. Bank & Burn burns logs you already have in the bank. From 50 Firemaking, Solo Wintertodt and Mass Wintertodt play the Wintertodt minigame and can collect its reward crates.

To add a task, pick Firemaking in Setup, set a level range (From and To), choose a method and fill in its options. Every method ends when you reach the To level.

Method Firemaking level What you need
Chop & Burn 1 An axe and a tinderbox (bought if missing)
Chop & Bonfire 1 An axe and a tinderbox (bought if missing)
Bank & Burn 1 Logs in the bank, a tinderbox (bought if missing)
Solo Wintertodt 50 Membership, four pieces of warm clothing (it gets them), an axe
Mass Wintertodt 50 As Solo
Any (per account) 1 As the methods it picks

Chop & Burn and Chop & Bonfire work the same way until the inventory is full:

  • Tree. It chops the best tree that both your Woodcutting and Firemaking levels allow:

    Tree Woodcutting Firemaking
    Normal tree 1 1
    Oak 15 15
    Willow 30 30
    Maple (members, 30 combat) 45 45
  • Spot. Each account settles on its own spot for each tree, the same every run. If Prefer forestry locations is ticked (it’s on the Woodcutting task editor), it picks a Forestry spot and hops to a Forestry world where it can. Forestry events that show up while it chops are handled either way.

  • Axe. Each bank trip takes the best axe you own for your Woodcutting level. It buys axe upgrades as you level: steel always, and mithril, adamant and rune too with Upgrade axe past steel on in Preferences. It buys a tinderbox from the Lumbridge general store if you don’t own one.

  • Bird nests. It picks up bird nests that fall for you, and banks once it has five nests or Forestry items.

When the inventory is full, it walks to the spot’s burning tile and lights the logs one after another, stepping off tiles a fire already covers. Then it goes back to chopping. Nothing is banked except nests and Forestry loot.

When the inventory is full, it lights a fire (or uses one already burning nearby), adds logs to it to build a Forester’s Campfire, and keeps tending the campfire until the logs are gone.

Takes a tinderbox and a full inventory of logs from the bank and burns them in a line next to the bank, then banks for more. It never chops.

  • Spot. Each account picks one of Varrock East, Draynor or Seers’ Village (members only), the same every run.

  • Logs to burn. Choose Auto (best log) to burn the highest-level log you own and can light, or one log type to burn only that log:

    Log Firemaking
    Logs 1
    Oak logs 15
    Willow logs 30
    Teak logs 35
    Maple logs 45
    Mahogany logs 50
    Yew logs 60
    Magic logs 75
    Redwood logs 90

A chosen log is never swapped for another. When you run out of logs to burn (or don’t have the level for the chosen one), the task is skipped and the plan moves on.

Both Wintertodt methods need membership and 50 Firemaking; the task waits until you have them (“Wintertodt needs membership” or “Wintertodt needs level 50 Firemaking”).

  • Warm clothing. Wintertodt needs four pieces of warm clothing. The task wears the warm items you own (santa hats, the pyromancer outfit, Forestry and lumberjack gear, clue hunter gear and many more). If you’re missing some, it buys a rainbow scarf from Diango in Draynor (120 coins) and digs up the clue hunter gloves, boots and cloak with a spade, buying a spade from the Lumbridge general store if needed. Slots without a warm item get Graceful if you own it.
  • Tools. It brings your best axe (buying upgrades as above), a tinderbox, a hammer and a knife. Any it lacks inside the arena it takes from the supply crates.
  • No food. It doesn’t bring food. Inside the arena it takes unfinished rejuvenation potions from the crate and picks bruma herbs, then makes rejuvenation potions: itself if Druidic Ritual is done, otherwise by handing them to Brew’ma. It drinks one when your warmth gets low.

It chops bruma roots, fletches them into kindling with the knife, and feeds the brazier. It lights and repairs braziers, heals the Pyromancer with potions when he’s down, and steps away from falling snow. Before a system update it moves to safety.

Plays alone on a world with nobody else in the arena.

  • Finding a world. If someone else is in the arena before it has scored any points, it hops to another world (never one of the mass worlds). After 10 hops without finding an empty world, it plays Mass Wintertodt for about 30 minutes, then looks again.
  • Long games. It keeps the game going and ends each one once it reaches a points target near your Reward point cap (the target varies a little from game to game). The default cap is 5,000 points and the lowest it accepts is 500. A game also ends early if another player turns up, a logout timer appears (it then hops worlds), or a system update is close.
  • Agility shortcut. With 60 Agility it uses the shortcut in the arena.
  • Hop after games. Hops to a new world after this many games. 0 (the default) never hops for this reason.

Plays on the official mass worlds (307, 309, 311, 389 and 402), hopping to one that isn’t nearly full. It works at one brazier and aims for 500 points per game.

  • Fletch roots (on by default): fletch the roots into kindling before feeding the brazier. Untick to feed the roots as they are.
  • Collect rewards amount. When this many reward crates are waiting, it leaves the arena between games and searches the reward cart until they’re all claimed, banking first if it needs room. 0 (the default) never collects while training.
  • Collect rewards when goal met. When you reach the To level, it finishes the current game, then claims every crate that’s waiting.

Without Collect rewards when goal met, the task leaves the arena as soon as you reach the goal, even in the middle of a game. If another Wintertodt task with a higher goal comes next in your plan, it stays in the arena for that one instead.

Any (per account) uses Chop & Burn or Chop & Bonfire up to around 50-58, then Wintertodt from 50, mostly on mass worlds with some accounts playing solo. Whether an account fletches roots on mass worlds and collects its crates at the goal is also decided per account. Each account gets the same choices every run. See Account seeds.

  • When Add Missing Reqs adds Firemaking levels, it adds Chop & Burn to 50, then Mass Wintertodt.
  • Saved tasks, profiles and Last Run that still use the old name “Chop & Bonefire” load as Chop & Bonfire.
  • Logs from Woodcutting’s Chop & Bank can feed a later Bank & Burn task.
