Herblore

The Herblore task trains Herblore from herbs your account gathers itself. It looks at every herb you own, works out which potions they would make, and keeps gathering herbs until those potions are enough to reach your goal level. Only then does it collect the secondary ingredients and make the potions.

The quickest way to use it: add a Herblore task, set the level range, leave the method on Auto and the herb source on Chaos druids.

  • Membership.
  • Druidic Ritual finished.
  • Enough Herblore for the potion (see the tables below).
  • Food in the bank for any trip that fights or enters a dangerous area (chaos druids, hill giants, red spiders’ eggs).
  • Coins for vials of water, eyes of newt and chocolate dust (see Coins).

If something is missing, the task waits and shows why instead of starting.

The task moves through the same steps every time:

  1. Read the bank. It opens the bank once so it knows what you own.
  2. Gather herbs. It runs your chosen herb source until the herbs you own (grimy, clean or already made into unfinished potions) would reach the goal level. Cleaning XP from grimy herbs counts towards the plan.
  3. Collect supplies. It collects the vials of water and secondaries that plan needs, one supply at a time.
  4. Make potions. It banks for one inventory at a time, cleans the herbs, makes unfinished potions and then finished potions, in plan order.

The plan is worked out again from what you own after every bank visit, so herbs from other tasks (farm runs, quests, drops) count too. A druid trip, egg run or Tithe Farm game is not cut short when the plan rotates to another task.

Auto plans potions from the herbs you own, cheapest first:

Herblore level Potion Herb + secondary
3+ Attack potion Guam leaf + eye of newt
22 to 25 Compost potion, or Restore potion Harralander + volcanic ash, or red spiders’ eggs
26+ Energy potion Harralander + chocolate dust
45+ Super attack Irit leaf + eye of newt
  • Guams always go first, all of them, as attack potions.
  • Harralanders are made into compost potions until level 26, then energy potions. Energy potions keep being made after 45, before any super attacks.
  • Compost potions are used when you have Bone Voyage, 22 Mining and a pickaxe you can use, because the volcanic ash is mined. Without them, Auto makes restore potions instead.
  • Other herbs (tarromin, ranarr, toadflax and anything the plan doesn’t need) are kept in the bank.

Select potion makes one potion only. Pick it in the Potion list; the editor shows the recipe, the level and where the secondary comes from.

Potion Level Herb + secondary Where the secondary comes from
Attack potion 3 Guam leaf + eye of newt Bought in packs from Jatix in Taverley
Strength potion 12 Tarromin + limpwurt root Collected from hill giants
Compost potion 22 Harralander + volcanic ash Mined on Fossil Island (Bone Voyage, 22 Mining, a pickaxe)
Restore potion 22 Harralander + red spiders’ eggs Picked up in a dungeon (see below)
Energy potion 26 Harralander + chocolate dust Bought from Hudo’s shop in the Grand Tree
Agility potion 34 Toadflax + toad’s legs Swamp toads in the Gnome Stronghold
Prayer potion 38 Ranarr weed + snape grass Picked up from its ground spawn
Super attack 45 Irit leaf + eye of newt Bought in packs from Jatix in Taverley

If you are below the potion’s level, the task waits. A Compost potion task also waits until you can mine volcanic ash.

The Gather herbs option picks where the herbs come from.

Kills chaos druids and loots every herb they drop, plus other useful drops (secondaries, runes, vials of water and gems), until the plan reaches the goal. It banks and returns as often as needed and takes food on each trip.

  • Combat style: Attack, Strength or Defence fights in melee and trains that style. Range uses the best ranged weapon and ammo you own or can afford, and needs at least 50 ammo.
  • Druid location:
Location Needs
Random Picks one of the spots your account can reach, chosen per account. Never the Wilderness.
Taverley Dungeon Membership
Chaos Druid Tower 46 Thieving (north of Ardougne)
Yanille Agility Dungeon 57 Agility, or 82 Thieving with a lockpick
Slepe Church Roof Priest in Peril
Edgeville Dungeon (Wilderness) Not usable on a hardcore account

Every spot is listed even if your account can’t reach it yet. The task waits until it can. In the Yanille Agility Dungeon the way in depends on your levels: with 82 Thieving and a lockpick it uses the south door, otherwise it cuts through the web with a knife and carries a super antipoison. At Yanille and Slepe it also fights chaos druid warriors.

See Combat and Gear and loadouts for how gear and food are picked.

Plays Tithe Farm (needs 34 Farming) and spends every point on herb boxes from Farmer Gricoller after each run, 30 points a box. At the bank it uses “Bank-all” on the boxes so the herbs go straight into the bank. It stops playing once the herbs reach the goal, but always finishes a run it has started. You also get Farming XP. See Farming.

Doesn’t gather anything. The task waits until the herbs in your bank reach the goal, then starts. Add a Farming task with the Herb Runs method to your plan so the herbs keep coming. Until then the task shows how much XP the plan is short.

Once the herbs are in, the task collects what the plan still needs, in this order. Anything you already own counts first.

  • Vials of water and eyes of newt: bought from Jatix’s shop in Taverley in packs of 100, then opened. It hops worlds if the shop runs out.
  • Chocolate dust: bought from Hudo’s shop in the Grand Tree.
  • Volcanic ash: mined from the ash piles on the Fossil Island Volcano with the best pickaxe you own. Soda ash is dropped when it fills the inventory.
  • Red spiders’ eggs: picked up from their spawns, hopping worlds when they’re gone. Each trip takes 4 to 8 food.
    • Normal accounts use Edgeville Dungeon, on the Wilderness side.
    • Hardcore accounts use the Pandemonium Cave once Pandemonium is done, otherwise the Karamja dungeon. Either way they carry coins for the boat, and they never go into the Wilderness.
  • Limpwurt roots: killed for at one of four hill giant spots, the same one every run for your account. It fights in melee, or with Range if you have 40 Ranged and your Attack or Strength is below 30. It takes food.
  • Toad’s legs: swamp toads are picked up in the Gnome Stronghold and their legs removed.
  • Snape grass: picked up from its ground spawn, hopping worlds when it’s taken.

Herblore spends coins on:

  • Water-filled vial packs (201 coins per 100 vials) and eye of newt packs (300 coins per 100), both from Jatix.
  • Chocolate dust (2 coins each) from Hudo.
  • Boat fare on hardcore red spiders’ egg runs.
  • Combat gear or ranged ammo for chaos druids or hill giants, if you choose a style you don’t have gear for.

If you don’t own enough coins for the packs and chocolate dust, the task waits and says how many it needs. See Money.

Each bank trip takes one inventory for the next potion in the plan. Finished potions are banked on the following trip. Every account has its own fixed way of batching:

  • Clean all the grimy herbs first (28 a trip), then 14 herbs with 14 vials, then 14 unfinished potions with 14 secondaries.
  • 14 herbs with 14 vials, cleaned and mixed in one trip, then 14 unfinished potions with 14 secondaries.
  • Herb, vial and secondary together, 9 of each per trip (13 with volcanic ash, which stacks).

Herb cleaning also differs per account: some clean the whole inventory with one click, others click each herb.

The task is done when your Herblore level reaches the To level of the level range. It only starts while your level is inside the range. Herbs the plan didn’t need stay in your bank.
