Combat
A Combat task trains one combat skill on one monster. You pick the skill as the Method (Attack, Strength, Defence, Range or Magic), then the Monster, and for most monsters a Location. The script sets the matching attack style, gets its own gear and food together, fights until the skill reaches your target, and banks the loot along the way.
To add one, pick Combat in Setup, set a level range, choose the method, the monster and (if offered) the location. The From level fills in with your current level in the skill you picked.
Training styles
Section titled “Training styles”Each method trains one skill. The script sets the attack style for it before every fight:
| Method | Skill trained | Attack style it sets |
|---|---|---|
| Attack | Attack | Accurate |
| Strength | Strength | Aggressive |
| Defence | Defence | Defensive |
| Range | Ranged | Rapid |
| Magic | Magic | Casting (autocasts the spell, see Magic) |
The level range is checked against the skill you picked, so a Strength task runs while your Strength is in range. It finishes when that skill reaches the To level. Below the From level the task waits with “Requires Strength level N to start”.
Which monsters each style can fight
Section titled “Which monsters each style can fight”| Monster | Attack | Strength | Defence | Range | Magic | Requirements |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chickens | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | None |
| Cows | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | None |
| Hill Giants | Yes | Yes | Yes | Food | ||
| Monk of Zamorak | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | None | |
| Chaos Druids | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | Membership, plus the spot’s own needs | |
| Blue Dragons | Yes | Yes | Membership, an anti-dragon shield (the task can get one) | |||
| Brutus | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | The Ides of Milk |
| Gemstone Crab | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes | Children of the Sun |
The Monster dropdown only lists the monsters your chosen method can fight. Every monster except Brutus and the Gemstone Crab also gets a Location dropdown. Its first entry, Any (per account), lets each account settle on its own spot among the ones it can use right now. Every spot is always listed, even ones your account can’t reach yet: the task waits, showing what’s missing, until you can.
Monsters
Section titled “Monsters”Chickens
Section titled “Chickens”Fights the chickens in the Lumbridge chicken pen and picks up the feathers they drop. It only fights chickens within a few tiles of the pen.
Fights the cows in the Lumbridge cow field. Two extra options:
- Loot and bank cowhides picks up your cowhides and banks them when the inventory is full.
- Tan cowhides before banking (needs the first option) takes the hides to Ellis in Al Kharid and tans them into soft leather first, at 1 coin per hide. If you can’t pay for the whole batch, it banks the hides instead. With this on, the bank trip takes all your coins along.
Hill Giants
Section titled “Hill Giants”Fights hill giants and picks up the limpwurt roots they drop. The Location dropdown lists four hill giant spots by map coordinates. Hill giants always need food: the task won’t leave the bank without some.
Monk of Zamorak
Section titled “Monk of Zamorak”Fights the monks at the Chaos Temple and picks up their Zamorak robe tops and bottoms. With a full inventory it eats or drops food to make room for a robe, and banks once it has no food left to make room with.
Chaos Druids
Section titled “Chaos Druids”Fights chaos druids and loots everything worth keeping: herbs, limpwurt roots, white berries, snape grass, nature, law, chaos and death runes, unicorn horn dust, vials of water, limpwurt seeds, coins, ensouled heads and gem-table drops. With Range it also picks up arrows.
| Location | What the account needs |
|---|---|
| Taverley Dungeon | Membership |
| Chaos Druid Tower | Membership, 46 Thieving (it picks the door’s lock, no lockpick needed) |
| Yanille Agility Dungeon | Membership, and 57 Agility for the monkeybars, or 82 Thieving with a lockpick for the south door |
| Slepe Church Roof | Membership, Priest in Peril |
| Edgeville Dungeon (Wilderness) | Membership, not a hardcore account |
Any (per account) never picks the Wilderness spot: you have to choose it by name. At Slepe and in Yanille the task fights chaos druid warriors too when they’re in reach.
For Yanille, the way in depends on your levels. With 82 Thieving and a lockpick (owned, or one the script can buy), it goes through the south door and carries only the lockpick. Otherwise it goes in through the web on the north side. Then it carries a knife and a super antipoison, because a failed obstacle drops you among poisonous spiders. If you own no super antipoison, it fetches one before heading in, and drinks it if you get poisoned.
Bank trips to Taverley, the Chaos Druid Tower and Yanille carry a teleport towards the spot. If another player is killing druids at your spot, it hops to another world.
Blue Dragons
Section titled “Blue Dragons”Fights blue dragons from a safespot with Range or Magic. It loots dragon bones, blue dragonhide, nature and law runes, adamantite ore, ensouled dragon heads, scaly blue dragonhide, brimstone keys, hard clue scrolls, herbs, a few equipment drops and gem-table drops.
| Location | What the account needs |
|---|---|
| Dragon Nest (Tal Teklan) | Membership |
| Heroes’ Guild Dungeon | Membership, Heroes’ Quest |
Dragon Nest (Tal Teklan) was called Corsair Cove Dungeon before; saved tasks with the old name load as Dragon Nest (Tal Teklan).
Anti-dragon shield. If you own no anti-dragon shield, dragonfire shield or dragonfire ward, the task gets an anti-dragon shield first. If Dragon Slayer I isn’t started and you have 32 quest points, it starts the quest with the Guildmaster, speaks to Oziach, and claims the shield from Duke Horacio in Lumbridge. With a shield and Range, it only uses crossbows, since a bow would take the shield slot.
It needs at least 100 arrows or bolts, or runes for 100 casts, to set out. While loot is on the ground it eats earlier, at 60% health, so it can pick the loot up safely.
The same task gathers dragon bones for Prayer, where you get extra options such as Telegrab.
Brutus
Section titled “Brutus”Fights Brutus, the bull boss from The Ides of Milk, in his arena by the Lumbridge cow field. You must have finished the quest.
- Dodging. It watches for Brutus’s stomp and charge and steps out of the way.
- Cowbell amulet. It carries the cowbell amulet from the quest. It charges the amulet with air runes (topping up to 1,000 air runes from a rune shop if it can), teleports to the arena with it, and rings it after each kill to bring Brutus back sooner.
- Loot. It picks up Mooleta, beginner and easy clue scrolls, cow slippers, the bottomless milk bucket, iron armour, iron arrows, air, mind and chaos runes, potato seeds, acorns, cowhide, coins and beef.
- Cook Brutus t-bones also picks up raw t-bone steaks and logs you can burn. Between kills it lights a fire and cooks the steaks as extra food. It only does this if you own a tinderbox. Burnt steaks are dropped.
- Bury bull bones buries the bull bones he drops.
- Food. Each trip takes food by Defence level: 10-16 below 10 Defence, 8-12 below 20, 6-10 below 30 and 4-8 from 30 (the exact amount is set per account). When it runs out of food or supplies, it leaves through the quick escape and banks.
- With the Strength method it won’t use an abyssal whip, which has no aggressive style.
Gemstone Crab
Section titled “Gemstone Crab”Fights the Gemstone Crab in Varlamore. You must have finished Children of the Sun. The crab doesn’t fight back, so the task takes no food. When the crab burrows, the script crawls through the cave after it and waits for it to come back up. With Range, it buys arrows up to what your coins cover before it walks out if you have fewer than 500, then uses the stack up at the crab.
Every Combat task builds its own loadout from what you own and what your coins can buy. In short:
- Melee uses the best weapon and armour for your levels. At chickens, cows, hill giants and the Gemstone Crab it buys a weapon and shield if needed but only wears armour you already own. At the other monsters it can buy armour too. At chickens, cows and hill giants, an ironman account missing the ironman helm, platebody or platelegs claims them from the Iron Man tutor in Lumbridge first.
- Range pairs the best bow or crossbow you can use with ammo it fits. Chickens, cows and the Gemstone Crab use bronze arrows only. The other monsters go up to the Max ranged ammo tier preference (Mithril by default). You need at least 50 arrows (100 at blue dragons and Brutus), or the coins to buy them. When it runs out, it picks its arrows back up off the ground before going to the bank. At chickens, cows and the Gemstone Crab it also collects piles of 5 or more every minute or two between kills, and at chaos druids it loots arrows with the other drops.
- Magic wields the staff for the spell’s element and wears the best mage gear you own. At Brutus and blue dragons it can also buy mage gear.
The bank trip withdraws exactly the loadout and the coins its shopping needs. For the full rules, see Gear and loadouts.
Magic spells
Section titled “Magic spells”Magic training casts the best spell your level allows from this list, up to the Max magic combat rune preference (Mind by default):
| Magic level | Spell | Combat rune |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Air strike | Mind |
| 5 | Water strike | Mind |
| 9 | Earth strike | Mind |
| 13 | Fire strike | Mind |
| 35 | Fire bolt | Chaos |
| 59 | Fire blast | Death |
| 75 | Fire wave | Blood |
With the default setting you stay on Fire strike. At blue dragons it uses water spells instead: the best of Water strike (5), Water bolt (23), Water blast (47) and Water wave (65) within the same rune limit. It wields the staff of the spell’s element and autocasts the spell. It needs runes for 100 casts to start, or the coins to buy at least 50, and buys up to 1,000 casts from rune shops.
- How much it takes. The first trip takes a fixed amount (for example 8 at chickens, cows and hill giants, 12 at blue dragons, 12 at chaos druids below 40 Defence and 8 from 40). Over the next few trips it learns how much the account really eats there and takes that plus a little spare.
- Which food. The best food you own. See Food and safety.
- Running out. At chaos druids and blue dragons, the task is skipped while you have no food at all. Hill giants always need food. Cows only need it while your Defence is under 10 and your Attack or Strength is under 30. If the bank has none, the script takes a few coins and buys up to 8 kebabs in Al Kharid. With no food and no coins, the script stops and says why.
- Retreating. At hill giants it retreats to the bank below 10 health with no food left, and at cows below 5.
When it’s done
Section titled “When it’s done”When the trained skill reaches your To level. The task finishes picking up the last loot first, and at blue dragons it leaves the cave.
